Seiko SKX007: Watch runs too fast...

The Citizen Eco Drive mentioned here is probably the closest to a quartz 007 2018's Best Dive Watches Under $200 | Dive Watches Blog

I have one of those too. It literally keeps perfect time (it’s right on after a month or more), but aesthetically...compared to the 007...it looks like you should be able to score one from a dollar store.

Aesthetically...the BN0198 looks like it could be decent looking (compared to the 007). Just remove the cheesy Citizen bracelet.

That and if you want Seiko aesthetics with don’t have to set it every few days accuracy...there’s the SNE441. You’d have to overlook the yellow though. Too bad they’re not still selling the limited edition black model.

Unfortunate it sounds like the shop made it worse. 2 minutes slow a day is awful. I guess there was a reason it only cost $20. You could always just sell it - resale on an SKX is pretty good since so many want them for modding (and maybe don't care so much about accuracy)

One of them is convenient to get to, but the overall concern of the repair shops in the area damaging watches during service is not promising...and inline with what I experienced already.

Now It stopped running and there’s something rattling around in the case. Will try and take it somewhere else tomorrow.

Oh ouch, clearly nothing should be rattling around in the case. You can get a brand new SKX for under $200. Or a Christopher Ward or Steinhart for $500 to $600. Any of those should last a long time. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I ordered a Citizen BN0200. That should arrive tomorrow.

I wouldn’t mind another automatic for a dive watch, but I’m not messing with another one for dive/daily wear (just about everything under $500 runs with roughly the same accuracy of my SKX).

I’m just hoping to get this one repaired so I can at least wear it around town (I can’t wear it diving again unless I send it off to get pressure tested).
