I don't know of any charter boats (including liveaboards) in Puget Sound or the San Juans that has a compressor. We did have one on the charter boat in Nanaimo, and he did pump Nitrox. It's quite nice not to have to haul two or three tanks per person onto the boat, or have to do the math to figure out how much of the doubles you can use and still make another dive!

Wow, great trip report! I'm really sorry I didn't get a chance to join in the merriment, but my schedule simply would not cooperate.

I'm glad you got a chance to dive the Peace... it's a real jewel in the SoCal boat fleet. Best ship out there. Their food is incomparable, the DMs are friendly, helpful and incredibly knowledgeable, and hey, they pump Nitrox and offer HP fills. Even the bunks are reasonable! (On multi-day trips they have a washer and dryer, too, and can give you your DS undies in the morning still warm!)

There are a bunch of boats down here that have on-board compressors, although slightly fewer that can do HP fills, and only a handful that pump Nitrox. I really feel for those that don't have any compressors and have to lug multiple tanks, though!

Here's hoping I can join up on your next trip down...

Great write-up. Almost makes me want to live in So-Cal. (oh wait, I do) Almost makes me want to take up SCUBA.

I had similar fears about the Casino Point dive park. It seems small and plain from the tarmac. Once you're in the water it has a lot to offer.

[LA County/SoCal] the Birthplace of Recreational Scuba: where you can snowboard/ski in Winter Mountain Wilderness; then turn around to go swim, surf & night dive in Kelp Forests at Mainland Beaches; and finally come home to Suburbia with a perfect Mediterranean Climate --all done within either a span of 12 hrs, or a leisurely paced Weekend. . . !
Wow . . .compared to above, now that was a whirlwind tour!!!:11:

That Kool Aid must really be affecting all your nervous systems something fierce based on what I've been reading about this gathering!

Glad that the two of you enjoyed what SoCal has to offer. It really is a pretty amazing place. 38 years in its waters and I still find things to get Awe-struck by.

Lynne,

I'm glad that despite my best efforts you still managed to have a GREAT time. You've only seen a fraction of what So-Cal has to offer for diving. You'll have to come back for Peter’s birthday :)

See you in July!!!

See you in July!!!
Are you going to be in Washington in July? I'll be there from the 14th to the 22nd. If your up there then, let me know and we'll get together for a dive or six!

Oh, great, Robert -- If you're up here for that long, surely we'll be able to hook up for a dive or two. I'd love to return some hospitality . . .

I'll be up the 4th to the 8th. Too bad we'll miss each other.
