Have owned 2 U.S. Divers regulators, the first was a Micra adjustable, & the second (which I still own) is an Impulse.
The problem I have is both second stages emit a low pitched squark when breathing reasonably hard, best way i can describe it is if you can imagine putting your mouth peice on a deflating balloon and breathing through it, not quite that bad but you may get the idea.
While the regulator still delivers air the noise and feel are most disconcerting.
Have had both regs serviced by 2 different repair shops to no avail the problem continues.
I do tend to breath quite aggressivly and wondered if I am over breathing them.
Can any one suggest a solution?
Santa. :)

Thanks for the reply NetDoc,
Unfortunately this sound persists even when submerged, cant believe I am the only one to have experienced this problem.
Really would like to solve this problem the sensation is not pleasant, the worry is that the reg is about to self destruct, while I am sure the feeling is not justified It would be nice have a reg that breathes normally and does not sound like the mating call of a wild goose.
Regards,
Santa. :(

My TX-50 honks a little when it's dry too. No big deal...once it's submerged it shuts up. That seems a little strange that yours still does it when its submerged.

I have a USD SEA4 The only time I've ever had noise from mine is when I was in a pool sesion and was under 500 psi. I got a noise then but haven't noticed any other except that one time. I've shared air with buddys practicing OOA and I can't tell that there breathing off me and no noise.
