Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We did go ahead and bring it in for an overhaul. Even if we end up not loving the gear, we could probably sell it and put the funds toward gear anyway, maybe a computer.

Our LDS told us that there are upgrade kits for both pieces, which they'll install. I'm quite sure that some parts (especially the soft purge on the old Scubapro - cracking rubber) needed replacing. They said that by the time they're through with it, the typical recreational diver wouldn't notice much difference because the newer technology starts to shine on deeper dives. Which is fine by me - tech diving is not in my future and I'll only go as deep as I need to in order to see cool stuff!

In any case, once we get it back and I've gotten a chance to take it out for a spin, I'll make a post with my thoughts in case this thread becomes useful to someone in the future.
