I signed up for stage cave the weekend after Thanksgiving. Still waiting for family to hammer down the dates.

Anyone know what the top side of Dos Pisos is like? Is it far from the parking lot? Is there an area outside the water that I can set and get geared up?

Dos Pisos is on the private territory of Rancho Campesino which the owner partially uses as a garbage dump.
Along the dirt road there is a small area to park a car with tables for gearing up, but you have to walk about 50m to the cenote. Across the road you will have buddies - doggy and chikens)))

Dos Pisos is a great cenote along with

Chan Hol
Otoch Ha
Tux Kupaxa
Coop One (Tux)
Nohoch Nah Chich
Outland

What is it like near the water? Easy access? Any places to sit near the water. I take my prosthetic leg off before getting into the water, so I need someplace to take it off and bag it.

Cenote Cristalino (Mayan Blue B tunnel is the famous one which is great for video)
across the street is Cenote Escondido where the Naharon Cave is (very dark cave that looks like it was burned to a crisp and charred)
You can do two dives at Cenote Cristal and two dives at Cenote Naharon if you're doing Rule of 6ths if you're Intro to Cave. They even discounted pricing if you want to check out both cenotes on the same day.

Here are some videos of some caves so you can get an idea of how they are. Under the Jungle is a great place for info if you're doing your own thing. Very knowledgeable instructors/dive guides and they sell maps as well. Quite a few 'Muricans working there and they were very helpful with dive planning this one time we stopped by.

Well my trip is almost at a end, doubt I will get another dive in.

  • Did a stage dive in Mayan Blue, B tunnel to A tunnel's start. One big halocline followed by a dark tunnel, didn't make great video.
  • Did a deco dive on Zapote. Cool, but doubt I would repeat.
  • Did a pair of dives in Chan Hol, I really liked the diving, the mud not so much.
  • Did a pair of dives in Nohoch, really dark, it was nothing like the absolutely spectacular cave I remember in July.
  • And did a stage dive to the deep section of Regina through the backdoor, I enjoyed this so much that it hardly felt like the two hour dive that it was.

I am going to try to plan a third cave diving trip for spring. I have a friend that took advantage of XOC-Ha's Christmas special. I might join him for another two weeks of a working vacation. We both have predominately remote jobs.

Which lines did you do at Nohoch? There are so many lines to do there. It's a great place to dive whether you're straight out of Intro to Cave or if you're a Cave CCR or Cave DPV diver.
