I purchased a used Seaquest BCD on ebay. Upon arrival the cummerbund strap (waist) rubber attachments to the wings were rotted off. I have since seen another with the same problem. Is this a recall? Can it be fixed? Or should I just live with it as is, goes behind spine cushion and is attached there.

If the rotting is only o the cummerbund take the entire cummerbund and the little 1-inch snap belt off. Replace with a standard 2-inch weight belt

Def get rid of that cumberbund. My first bcd was the same model and that cumberbund .....I could never get it tight enough to prevent the bcd from riding up all the time. I finally switched to a bp and wing and am much happier. (noticed how we managed to work in bp and wing???)

I have the SQ Black Daimond 98 model. Since being bought it never failed me before in any of the parts, of course i had it service lastafter 5 yrs of used. The velcro on the cummerbound or ont he weight pocket is still excellent. I even used to put nearly 18kgs on the weight pockets and i was doing lots of walking getting to get into the water (shore diving).

bye

Replace with 2" weight belt webbing and buckle, add a crotch strap if you like

I did the same with an Aeris XT. The 2" belt and s.s. weightbelt buckle works much better.

Yep, when I used the Cressi Aqua Pro 3, I hated the Cummerbund and replaced it with an old weight belt.

It worked great and the belt never sliped up or came loose.
