Hey Skipper, yes, at 20 ft or less, you can get a lot of great shots without strobe. And, as someone else mentioned, if you have a certain level of proficiency with photoshop, you can do a lot of correction. The strobe is great for off setting the color loss as you go down. But, clear carib waters at 20 feet, you can get great pics....Have fun in aruba and share the photos with all!

So are you getting your C card in Aruba?

i'm trying. I just signed up the other day. It really was a spur of the moment thing.. I just finished half the book so I'll call a bit later on today to start my classroom and pool training. If it doesn't work out I can get it next year. I go to Aruba every year for 12 years now (this year makes 12) or back here in NY.

Does anyone have any pics taken with the DC800 without a strobe. It would be great to see some. Also can you post at what depth and what kind of visibility there was on that day.

There are some pictures in our photo gallery that were just taken with the DC800 (no strobe). If you click on the first one, it appears in a new window and then you can click next to scroll through them. Under the details it will say DC800 if it was the camera alone, or DC800 Pro if it was the camera with strobe.

Where can I get the Maxx (or Pro) package of the SeaLife DC800 in New York?
I've got a brother in New York who leaves for Norway (home) in a week, and BH Photo where I usually get my equipment were sold out.. So I am in a hurry, so to speak.

Check our dealer locator: SeaLife Cameras - Underwater Cameras and Accessories - Dealor Locator

You can search by zip code and find the closest SeaLife dealers to you. Then you can call around and find out who has them available.

Is it possible to buy the flashes later, or do they only come in the package?
None of the stores I've been in contact with have the Pro or Maxx packages in right now.
The Camera however, is possible to get.

EDIT: flashes -> strobes.. keep with the lingo :o :)

Yes, you can purchase the strobe separately. It is item SL961 and it will come with the components you need to hook it up to the camera. Buying the sets gives you a break on price and a nifty carrying case :)

Yeah I'd like that, but appearantly no store I've tried have any sets available.. My brother is kinda busy at work too, so I can't send him searching around.
How much would the strobes cost?
