Anyone have numbers of accidents on Red Sea for past five years?

No, that is not the Sea Story. Also, the DailyMail is the worst of the worst UK tabloid, so do not believe anything unless verified by other sources.

I dove in the Red Sea in the spring of 1997 doing land based trips. I remember being down in the galley between dives and seeing another boat through the port hole. Seeing, as in seeing it coming towards us. Then seeing and feeling it hit our boat. Fortunately, minor damage and were able to continue on for the day.

Hope there is good outcome for this incident.

Ugh WTF! Boat was built in 2022. This keeps happening in Egypt.
I was on liveaboard at Red Sea just week ago, our boat was built 2022, on paper. Boat looked pretty but you can tell it was probably just refurbished.

Red Sea is stormy for the last 2 days, all boats stucked in marinas, why did this one went on cruise ? Don't know.

I went more than 25 times in the Red Sea in the last 30 years, obvioulsy things radically changed, with booming liveaboards, now some with more than 30 passengers, and probably poorly designed boats, light qualified captains and crews (but courageous), uncertain safety procedures (if any), and above all, the absolute necessity for the guys to get their wages, as millions of Egyption rely on tourism to live, and one month salary of an average crew on a boat is roughly between 150 and 200€.

Yes 3 or 4 diving boats sinked/burned in 2024 in the Red Sea that is too much !

I was just posting this when you put your message up. From the BBC:

"On Saturday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecasted turbulence on the Mediterranean and Red Seas due to the weather, and warned people against marine activities on Sunday and Monday.

"Wind speeds were between 60-70 km/h, and wave heights were three to four metres high."

As I read it, the boat only left port on Sunday--after these warnings--and sank in the middle of the night. Tragic.
