Yes that was ONCE in a decade+. How many LOB incidents has Egypt had so far in 2025 alone?

The question is, how many people died in each incident and on the Conception?? Probably the number of deaths on the Conception is many more than on all incidents in Egypt.

Like the Conception issues, sure.

whataboutism - the rhetorical practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counteraccusation, by asking a different but related question, or by raising a different issue altogether.

The Conception fire has nothing to do with the alarming number of Egyptian LOB fires and sinkings.

The question should be what has changed in the Egyptian regulatory regime to reduce the number of sinking/fires/incidents on LOB.

The U.S. may move slowly but changes have been made sine the Conception disaster.

That’s unsettling to read about the Firebird incident. I’ve always dreamed of diving the Red Sea—its vibrant reefs and historic wrecks are legendary—but hearing these stories really gives me pause.

It’s a relief that all passengers and crew were safely evacuated, but it does raise questions about safety protocols. Also the factr that this isn’t an isolated event...there have been multiple liveaboard incidents in the Red Sea over the past few years, some with tragic outcomes.

In 22 years, there have been two stability incidents resulting in 13 fatalities. In that same period, there have been 11 fires resulting in eight fatalties. Lastly, 11 groundings have resulted in zero fatalities.

I’m not trying to be coarse or flippant but choosing to go to Egypt looks like one’s assuming heightened risk of getting burned, drowned or suffering a significant disruption to one's trip.

I’ll spend my airfare pointed at a destination where there’s a little more pride in safety and accountability.

Also, there have been many reports of bullying to sign incorrect statements, threats of withholding passports, delayed rescues, etc., all of which don't happen or don't happen often in the US.
