A couple of friends, my girlfriend, and I all dove the Sea Emperor yesterday. We went out through Parrot Island Scuba Adventures on the Fish Food.

The dive was awesome! The depth was about 70 feet, and the viz was beautiful. There was a bit of a current, so we all had to descend down the line.
For those of you not familiar with the Sea Emperor, it is a man-made reef. It was sunk with a load of concrete pipes in an effort to weigh it down. It flipped as it was sinking, scattering the pipes, and coming to rest, I believe, upside down. The pipes lay in a rubblefield to the east, and the ship lies with its bow pointing north.
This makes for a great first wreck dive, IMHO. The rubble field offers many swimthroughs in which there is no danger of damaging soft coral. The barge itself can actually be entered safely, all holds have direct overhead access. The sea life there is great. I saw a couple of BIG stingrays. One rubbed up against me ;) A bunch of parrotfish and angelfish. Overall, it is an interesting site to dive.
Our second dive yesterday was drift dive on the Abbey(sp?) 2. The current was really kicking along, so it was kind of a fast-motion drift, but it was a great time.

Thnx for the update

Sounds like you all had a wonderful day of diving.
As I was reading your description of the dive I got a real desire to dive that wreck again. Haven't done it in a few years.
So much life on it to see!
