Concerning buying wetsuits, I would consider buying the Bare brand since you can mix and match their sizes. For example, unlike other brands, they make medium tops with both large and small size below the waist and vice versa. Larry helped us find perfect fits which is not easy when you are relative short and fat like me. Larry has a massive inventory of wetsuits to choose from. Scubatoys rocks.

Yes, that's me! I would have to categorize myself as "short and fat" too (apple shaped) even though I see myself as relatively thin when comparing myself to others around me in shopping malls, grocery stores, etc.. Go figure.

I'm not sure I'd be happy in the Bare brand because it's not really, really stretchy like the Henderson. I tend to feel clausterphobic when wearing most brands of wetsuits out there. They feel like straight jackets to me. Last rented suit I was in was a Henderson and wow - it was comfy! I felt like I was wearing pajamas!

The big problem with me is my height vs my weight. If I bought a Henderson Hyperstretch in my size (womens 10 - one size just slightly smaller than my measurements) based on the size chart on ScubaToys.com it would fit a person 5'7" - 5'9" and I'm just barely 5'4". Wouldn't the arms and legs be too long? And possibly the torso too?

As far as custom goes, I really won't be diving enough to justify having a custom suit made. Funds are limited here at home and vacations are about once or twice a year at best. And, I have to admit, I'm a total WWW and won't even put my big toe in the water here in the Pacific Ocean. BRRRRRRRRRR!!! I went hypothermic once in my life and I never ever plan on risking that happening again. Nuh uh.

I would just keep renting, but, uh, um, re: rented wetsuits in a word?

PeeeeeYewwww!!!!

Does anyone out there have any opinion on Scuba.com? They were another online retailer that I ran into while searching... thanks!:D
I've used them and some of my students have bought from them and we haven't had any problems but I don't think we've needed to return anything yet.

yeah, scubatoys rock! I purchased about 95% of my gears from them and I even sent my regulator set with computer for annually check.

I bought 1 or 2 from Scuba.com, no problems with them either.

I have purchased many items from SCUBA.com and have had only good experiences. This includes a computer, BC, even a wet suit. They are #1 with me. Have not tried SCUBATOYS yet, Why change. I am also waiting to be able to get nitrox on line too!!

Nice to hear Larry is still the big dog! All of us in the web business bow to them.........why not they ARE the best............maybe someday we can be close. But for now we "just try harder". Thanks Larry for setting the standard.

No particular problems with scuba.com, but their order processing takes forever, even after they charge your credit card. I ordered some gauges, got charged the next day, and two weeks later the stuff still had not been mailed. I finally emailed and cancelled my order and bought from elsewhere.

Got a reg from Scubatoys in 3 days.
