Hello all,

I'm looking into purchasing the Galileo Luna dive computer. At this point I'm debating whether I want to purchase from a LDS for $1200 + %10 discount or from Scubastore.com for $770.00. I've done quite a bit of reading and am fully aware of the additional risks having to do with warranty work / returns when dealing with an online and overseas dealer. I've poured through all the 10-20+ page threads regarding the issues.

For me the decision boils down to the warranty. I'm willing to spend the extra money to purchase from the local dealer if the computer will come with at least a 2 year warranty or more. If it's simply a 12 month warranty then making the online purchase and saving a couple hundred dollars on the front end is worth it to me. Does anyone have any information on the actual term of the warranty on dive computers from ScubaPro/UWATEC?

Warranty is important to me because I purchased a ProPlus 2 deluxe (that I'm now selling) from my LDS in September of 2007 and after the first dive it flooded due to a manufactures defect. The LDS was great and replaced it with a brand new unit with no questions asked. Because of this experience and the fact that we are talking about electronics under water I want to have some sort of protection. I've tried reading up on the ScubaPro website but those FAQ's and support pages are as clear as mud.

Any information is appreciated,

Thanks in advance!

I bought my D9 from DiveTank, a gray marketeer. Mine was one of those that were recalled, and I got the same free fix that everybody else got. Perhaps it would have been different if it wasn't a recall. I would be more concerned about battery changes than warranty. Does that computer have user-replaceable batteries? I don't think so. Uwatec battery changes can be expensive. Is that $770 price without transmitter? It seems like a real bargain if it includes the transmitter. (At least to the extent that $770 worth of technology you don't need can be a bargain.)

It is $776 with a transmitter and the product is marketed as having a user replaceable battery.

Nice price. LeisurePro's asking $1149, and they are usually pretty competitive.

I think the price diff. is due to inclusion (or not) of the transmitter.

Yes - those (Galileo's) are user replaceable batteries.

Just received the answer to my question from Scubapro's after sales support team directly. Apparently the computers are warrantied for two years from the date of purchase if purchased in store from an authorized dealer.
