Hello

Just prepared a couple of MK V DIN and SP 109 for the bay and came across a supposed MK V model which I have never had in my hands.

It has the same IP adjustment system like the Cressi AC2 still sold today which I like much more than the shim system SP was using so many years.

I don't understand why SP might have changed this good system for the much more inconvenienced shim adjustment system.

Also I tried to change the piston head o-ring using the normal 022 o-ring. It seemed to be too big and did not work. The original o-ring seemed to have only about half of the thickness of the 022 o-ring.

Does some body have a source to identify the different MK V models, knows about the piston head o-ring and why SP changed this system for the shim system.

Is this really a MK V or might that be an early Cressi copy of the MK V?

Thanks in advance.....:)

Doesn't look like any MK5 I have come across. The DIN retainer isn't like the Scubapro MK5 DIN either.

I haven't seen a MK 5 like that either. If the standard o-ring is too large, then I have to guess that the body bore would also be a different size which leads me to believe it isn't a MK 5.

Thanks for your comments.

NotSure, here are the four (three) different MK V I worked on. Only the latest model has the DIN system like on your photo.

The others use two parts.

What puzzles me is the fact that the parts look really like SP original parts, maybe there have been some extra models for Europe?

Or they have been manufactured at that time in the same place like Cressi Sub?

Anyway, can't sell it as MK V as long I don't know.....

Hopefully someone chimes in who has more insight.

Thanks so long......:)

I believe the DIN connector I pictured is 232 BAR, yours appear to be 200 BAR. Scubapro must have made an earlier DIN connector in 200 BAR for the European market. I suspect you are correct that the parts are made by the same manufacturer but sold under a different brand.

Hhhmmm, seems my English is not good enough to understand that 'joke'?

Anyway, just a couple of days ago I bought this 1st stage thinking I was betting on a MK V Environmental.

Any ideas?

The reference was from "Young Frankenstein" - a classic.

It looks like you have found another of his creations; this one based on a Mk10.

If you are seeking novelties, you seem to have a great start. If you are looking for older Scubapro regulators, you have a couple interesting misses.
