DA Aquamaster:
My understanding of the dealer agreement is that it needs to be an over the counter sale where the customer at a minimum comes in the store either to order the stuff or to pick it up. The exception would be government sales where the dealer is free to take bids via phone mail or internet and is not limited to selling at no less than 10% of the MSRP.

So if a Scubapro dealer is doing mailorder, internet or phone sales (there is no distinction as far as SP is concerned) they are violating the dealer agreement and SP will not be pleased if it reported. So if you work for a dealer selling in that manner, It's be a good idea not to blab about it over the internet.

Things could be changing though in the industry. One company is now adopting a policy where internest sales are allowed at no less than the MSRP. They are also using a third party company to monitor this and if dealers are caught doing other than over the counter sales at less than MSRP they will be warned for the first infraction and lose the dealership if it occurs again. If this works well it could catch on as it allows internet sales but does not leave the LDS at a disadvantage.

That may be the case. Because we are a dive op, some of our sales are to people on vacation, and it makes sense that if we have to order something that we don't have in stock that we would have to ship it to their home. So the SP stuff I've seen shipped could very well have been ordered over the counter. I'm more of a boat guy than a shop guy.

Rely on internet air fills?

I have bought from LP before but only smaller items that the LDS does not carry. In general I think it is a mistake to "save" money by skipping the LDS and buying on-line. Most on-line retailers work with a much larger volume and maintain few if any store fronts relative to their gross sales which keeps overhead down and this allows them to maintain very low prices. But when the local dive shop goes out of business, you lose the ability to try items on, you lose the local service support and expertise, new divers lose the ability to rent equipment and all divers in the area lose the ability to get air unless they invest in their own compressor. Personally, I cannot afford "savings" like that.

I lost my scubapro regulator warranty card. Can the dive shop I bought my gear from still honor my warranty (though I dont have the card)? I still have my air2 warranty card.

Yes they can. They can also get you a new card. Heck, I can help you get a new card. Here, have a new card.

I believe its more the other way around. A lot of posts on this board indicate that ScubaPro does not "let" dealers ship items via mail-order. Sounds like your LDS is being sneaky... that or the ScubaPro policies have changed recently.

Sounds like a case of asking forgiveness instead of permission.

I love scubapro stuff too. The regulator is the easiest to breathe through. And I'm in love with my BCD. (don't tell my husband.)
