I have a bunch of MK20s. You can use them up to 40% with no special parts, just like all other regs. I do have one that's for 100% O2 and it does get a O2 rebuild kit put in it. The dives shops now also offer three levels of VIP: Air, Premix, and O2 clean. Maybe that's where the confusion is coming from.

No confusion. Air and premix should be compatible with any tank that is usable. O2 clean is a different matter. The services I'm talking about are for regulators. If you have doubts pm me and I'll give you the links to the shops website.
One shop requires you to buy insurance on your reg, once price for service and one price if it is going to be used for EANx. His nitrox class also requires you to have your reg serviced at his shop before you can pass the class. It doesn't matter if it is brand new still in the box. He services it or you don't pass. How he is able to shave in the morning without being tempted to press real hard amazes me, but he still has a following that drinks his koolaid.

Wow, hard to think he's still in business. That is really a rip off of the highest magnitude.

I have ran into a couple of technical diving instructors like that. They insisted on extremely specific models and brands for everything from regs to wings to reels and liftbags and would of course sell them to you at a very non bargin price if you did not have them before you could start the course. I went somewhere else where I could at least pick the color of the Koolaid.
