One would think that all of this would of been covered. In the nitrox class.

...for a while now the PADI Nitrox cert class has been watered down so much you don't even to sniff a whiff of Nitrox to get your C-card! So the lack of subject material coverage isn't exactly shocking.

And now they are doing CCR. Go figure.

Not to get off the point like you all have but...is PADI really that bad? Should I get the rest of my certs through one of the other organizations?

My original Nitrox class, which is not a PADI cert, does not mention any specifics about regulator usage or suitability for use with Nitrox. Christolube, EPDM etc are nowhere to be found. There is much discussion on cylinder use and preparation due to the fill proceeses exposing the cylinder and components to high percentages of O2 and the need for proper precautions. Most of the techniques for regulator preparation and maintenance I learned during regulator service courses from the manufacturers, ScubaPro included.

I applaud the OP for asking questions instead of assuming. You also got great advice from mattboy, especially the part about the early G250's. Fantastic regs. Use it and enjoy!!

Thank you everyone for the advise. Hank you are correct, manufacturer equipment specifics where not covered in the course (not sure how they could). I purchased the G250/MK10 used and did not have the manual like I do with my other rig. I just wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Uh, your regulator needing to be ok for nitrox was covered in my nitrox class(which was padi), and repeatedly by the instructors(who told us all their rental regs were nitrox clean and all the gear we had for those who owned it was also fine). PADI talked about how you might need to consider your computer(or tables) too since the video was obviously shot in the 90s.

The only thing my instructor didn't do is dive with us. IIRC they removed this requirement shortly after from it.

I believe the OP knew that the regulator had to be okay with Nitrox, and wanted to know if the Mk10 was indeed okay with Nitrox. Mattboy gave the very useful answer that SP uses O2 lube and EPDM orings in all their regulators, and therefore the Mk10 ought to be fine. I'm not seeing how the Nitrox class failed here.
