Dove em gave em back and am now diving with Atomic Aquatic splits and man they were worth every penny. Dont even know you have em on. Easy on and easy off with the new buckle system, very soft foot pocket so they dont chaffe like others. and very powerfull. IF you go with the reef reds and the liquid blues you gain a little more with them. I tried both in bonaire and was so impressed with the Atomics that when we got back i ordered a set that week.

I've tried split fins in the form of Apollo something + another brand I don't remember. They really, really, really suck. So if Scubapro has made something work with a split fin design, I must congratulate. I don't think so though. You may very well use less energy, but only if you are a very, very, VERY slow swimmer.

The "old fashioned"* Jet Fin, short, wide, extremely durable and CHEAP(!), gotta be fins to consider for anybody who wants to swim under water with scuba (heavy) gear on. Maybe a little stiff for those who prefer to just drift around, but very efficient when you need force.

* I say old fashioned, but then you should see my fins. They are Scubapro Nordic Fins from 1976. The fins before the Jet Fins I believe!

I have a pair in yellow and I love them . they are very comfortable and seem to give great propulsion. I can pull away from alot of folks if put a lil leg into it lol

Sorry, Jets date from the 1960's.

Splits take a differnt kick style than solids. If you try to swim the same way with them, they don't work very good.

Have the jets always had the ports in them?

Here are my Scubapro Nordic Fins:

Do you know the story behind these? They are great for my use. The blades are not angled like on the jets. I prefer it that way. I can buy a new pair of Scubapro jets for $120, but I wouldn't sell these nordics for $200 if I got an offer :D

Yes, they Jets have always been exactly as they are today.

The US Divers (now Aqualung) Rocket Fins were a knock-off on the Jets, they had to pay Scubapro for every pair they sold. I bought my 1st pair of Rockets in 1972 & they had been around for some years then, with the Scubapro Jets being even older.

Cheap? Have you seen what they're trying to sell new ones for in dive shops? (I was shocked when I find out they still made them, must be like that factory that's rumored to exist in Mexico that still makes old VW Beetles...) eBay's where it's at!

You tell me :06:

I can get the originals for $120 and Saeko Dives for $90. Mark that these prices include our 25% sales tax, and prices are ususally higher before taxes than what you pay "over there". So what's your best offer then?

Bought a pair of Scubapro Jetfins size M on ebay for $20, plus $8.95 shipping. They feel like planks strapped to my feet. It's the smallest size and the foot pockets are too wide. If you have floaty feet they will certainly help, but I like my Apollo Biofins for reef diving on a single tank.

Lots of Jetfins on ebay from years and years of people buying gear and never diving. Sort of like 78 rpm records - some people still listen to them. ;)

Putting a bag of popcorn in the microwave...

Here, full price is about $120, sometimes they're discounted to $80 and you can buy from an unauthorized dealer for about $65 plus shipping.

Personally I think $120 is a lot, for a fin that has been in continual production for at least 40 years, is a simple, injection molded rubber design (no composites), that does not appear to take a lot of manual labor to mass produce.

However, I do like the fin, it's what I dive, and I got mine (with lifetime warranty) for $80. Higher than I like, but not so bad as to make me scroan when paying the bill.

A scroan is a combined scream & groan :D
