Isn't European pricing for similar setup with a ScubaPro Mk19 Evo and a pair of G260 seconds also in this price range?

I'd expect a larger discount for the scubagaskets offering. I guess it depends on how much you value the stainless steel construction and no fuss availability of parts for DIY service versus the risks of dealing with a small company that's just getting started in the reg business. A good reg will last decades, not many reg companies have lasted that long.

Similar in Australia, I can get an mk19/mk25 or Halcyon at a similar price range, or a Hog D1/D3 for much cheaper for DIY (excluding a course cost). The SGS3T4 looks quite interesting, but it's starting price isn't quite as competitive as I'd hope for with a new company.

I might still get a first stage when they sell the individual components, or a full set if it's long hose configured.

hey imagine in 50yrs a different group of us intrigued by the development of the tried and proven vintage SG regs

and that Rob Gagnan dude

Magnifcent!

Well, compared to DRIS' $1,184 for a DST/XTX50, it'll be a steal once the tariff nonsense is settled.
Unless SG is drop-shipping out of the PRC or Hong Kong, the $795 total should fall under the $800/day de minimus personal exemption - no?

One might think there is some intentionality in that choice of price point.

I’m not sure in case of the US, but when I looked at the SGS2 (the piston one) from the EU a while back they mentioned on the website it is „dropshipped“ and subject to VAT for import from outside EU..
But the 795 could be the new adaptation to bypass PRC/US tariff; maybe for the US they’re importing into EU (and as a commercial buyer avoid VAT) and then reshipping🤷🏽‍♀️

Eitherway and regardless of the tariff dynamics elsewhere, this is way too expensive to get here in the EU; I’d end up paying almost 1k€ as a private customer

Actually the US $800 de minimus exemption has been specifically eliminated in the case of imports from the PRC so that ALL PRC imports are subject to (at least some) import duty. Trying to suppress the T.e.m.u\Tick Tok\Ali Express pipeline, I imagine.

As far as I know, the $800 exemption holds for goods from elsewhere, like Taiwan (ROC).

ETA: Strangely, the board treats T.e.m.u without the "."s as a swearword or something and displays "****". Odd.

The cupon spam attack from 2 weeks ago might have something to do with that

Similar package with Mares 28XR is $950 (833 €) in US:

The 28XR is Mares' flagship first stage. Isn't European pricing for similar setup with a ScubaPro Mk19 Evo and a pair of G260 seconds also in this price range?

I thought the 62x / 82x is the Mares flagship.

I thought the 62x / 82x is the Mares flagship.

62X is their current standard offering, it's a high performance compact reg that replaces both the 52X and 22X in their regular lineup (although both of the latter are still available in certain configurations and markets, notably the 22 in the Abyss Navy II).

The 82X has a swivel turret and is the premium in the regular line. The 28XR is the premium in their "tech" line.

The 82X and 28X are pretty much the same reg if you add the optional TBP environmental seal kit to the 82X. They share all parts except the reg and swivel section bodies and I suspect those are interchangeable.

IMO, the plastic cover on the 82X makes for a really ugly reg, so I'd take the 28XR if I wanted their turret reg. Unless you want a yoke connection, then you are stuck with the 82X.

Here's some pics. Note the 82X does not have the TBP kit so it's shorter. Which is a plus if you aren't planning on diving in water less than 40F (5C).

The 82x comes with an Ultra, the 28xr with a dual.

Functionaly, perhaps....aesthectically and spiritualy, not a chance.

Agree 100%!!!

Not that the 52X was visually appealing either, but to nix the 22X to offer relatively the same internals with such ugly beasts, only to offer the functionality of a rotating turret in such digusting form is a tradgedy from a company that hails from Italy.

the 28X, if not more attractive, is at least more interesting to look at than the 82x and 62x.
