As positive as you sound, that's not necessarily protection against ransomware or legal threats. I'd hope you have shared/offline backups of public stuff (non-PMs, private account info, etc.) to give to people. Archive.org only goes so far.I'm not going anywhere and when I die, there are a couple of people who will take over without a hitch.
Split-fins, Shearwater, PADI, etc. Same old jokes repeated for ages. Gets cringey after the 15th post about why divers roll backwards off of boats. One of them is all about split fins suck.....actually that reminds me of here in 2008.
The community here is truly second to none. You all are almost like a family to me. Seeing that the Board couldn't even afford stickers was so sad. Seeing that level of hardship and financial distress really stuck out to me. The advice, expertise and friendliness of everyone here has truly made this my favorite forum on the internet. I really would be upset to see it go, so it's nice that I can chip in to help the board continue. I'd love to have my kids be able to use this invaluable resource.
A big thanks to all of the mods, staff members, supporters and members of this site who make it the great place that it is.
Take care of yourselves!
Stay healthy, happy, and safe diving!
Respectfully,
OctoHelm

Unfortunately, this is no longer true. The mods do emphatically moderate for content, specifically Colliam7 & sleepy in Canada (or something like that). Colliam has also been snotty to me as well. I just wanted the Chairman to know that I carefully considered sending some money your way. But, having been burned repeatedly after supporting some forum, I was waiting to collect experience here before doing so. Now I can't see how I could support scubaboard financially. We don't moderate for content, not even for advertisers, only for kindness. The mods and I have tried to make this a great place for you to come get unvarnished opinions on agencies, instructors, gear and dive destinations.
Yet you are still here reading.
