hmmm... maybe we need to get there even earlier. i forgot we tried to dive magic island on memorial day and we showed up at 7:30 am and there was not a parking spot in sight. no one has a beach house and a boat or great shore dive right off the back of the house eh? damn why aren't we rich, we'd have you all over if we were!

That would be nice  I guess I could be there at...hmmm....7 at the earliest, I work till 10 on Sat and Sunday would need to catch some sleep.

only 4 people have voted so we will wait a bit before we make it final...but just wanted to know who else can be an early bird to insure a good spot?

hmmmmm....Just had another thought. Would it be interesting to rent a house on the shore for this and dive off the beach? I have no idea what a day would cost and if they would be willing to rent for one day, but that way we would have everything, kitchen, bathroom...the works....just thinking.....

How about a bigger dive boat for the day? No parking problems then. Throw on the BBQ and cooler. Im sure someone would be willing to do that. Then we could do a couple of different dives.

Sounds good...if we could find a boat out that way that could hold us all...and the price would be reasonable...I don't know anybody out that way, you?

I'll look. Doest it have to be north shore?

for shore diving it would have been the best, but see what you can get....the kahala kai could hold us all...but he might want $500 for a private charter

When another dive club I belong to had their annual picnic a few weeks ago, there was mention that if the attendees numbered over a certain amount of people, we would need a permit. I think the number they were tossing around was 30 - but don't hold me to that, as I was just reading the organizational emails going back and forth and wasn't part of that conversation.

I suppose a quick call to parks & recreation might provide the answer.

FYI, just found out that a permit's needed at state parks for 25+ people. Probably not a biggie on Oahu for diving groups but might be on the the other islands; Old Airport and Hapuna on the Big Island for starters. Rules vary for county parks.
