I have a MK 14 G250 I have he it down to 185 Ft in lake superior many times with a temp of 36 deg it worked great. I also have a MK 14 X650 I have had to same depth and the X650 breath a lot easer.

You might get lucky and find an old style G250 and there are planty of old MK10s out there. I found a never used old style G250 on Ebay once for a $100 buy i now. Couple that with a $25 win on a rebuilt MK10 and I say I got one sweet deal. Of course you may have to bid against me as I'm on a mission to buy the remaining world's supply ;) Gotta love the old MK10/G250 (non HP) regs.

DTB1981:
I was told the G250 and the S600 insides are the same but the 550 and 600 are just more comfortable. The repair tech told me to go with the 550 because he can adjust it to where I want over a couple of dives.
The G250 is going for $305 at the LDS. With the MK25

That's ok Dan, you can buy the old G250's and I'll corner the market on D400's and Balanced Adjustables.

The G250 was essentially the older metal cased Balanced Adjustable reincarnated in a plastic case. The diaphragm and internal parts are identical. You don't have the adjustable flow vane on the Balanced Adjustable but the breathing performance is otherwise identical, and if you dive a G250 with the flow vane somewhere in the middle, performance is identical to a Balanced Adjustable.

A Mk 10 or Mk 10 Plus is still an excellent first stage that will handle any demands a diver can place on it and deliver excellent ease of breathing when paired with a Balanced Adjustable, G250 or D400 second stage.

That's why I love these things for stages. The breathing just feels so easy when you are working a little harder lugging stages around in high flow. I now have something like 8 stage regs in the MK10/G250 configuration. Of course, my buddies all seem to grab them when we go diving.

Walter:
