Scuba Joe in Boulder has been an important dive center in the Denver/Boulder area for quite a few years. After the unfortunate death of its principle owner a few years ago, the remaining ownership looked for and eventually found a new owner. Although the sale was accomplished some months ago, the official unveiling of its new name (Ocean First Divers) will be at a grand reopening June 2. The shop is planning a lot of fun and games to announce its changes, so it should be a good time to drop by and check it out.
The new owner is a relatively young man who learned to dive with Scuba Joe, and has stayed with the store through his IDC. He has a lot of ideas for new directions, and he will be working closely with the instructional staff to gather and implement ideas. Those of us who have been associated with the shop were happy with the old ownership, but I think I can speak for all when I say we are all excited and positive about the new direction.
The shop remains one of the few with its own pool specifically designed for dive instruction on the premises, and a number of structural changes have already been started. If you have not been in the shop for a while, you will not recognize it when you go in again.
