SCUBAJENNIFER:
Sweet!!! I hope it's not too good (j/k :D),I don't want to be super jealous, because according to OA, they are definitely going to San Clemente since they are going to SB this time. I still haven't decided whether or not I'm going. Bottom Scratcher has an open boat that day that I'm considering as well.

I have done some of my best diving ever on Clemente -- really nice reefs.
I definitely wouldn't pass it up, but it is a bit of a hike out there.

Going out there won't be bad, we'll all be asleep, well except for Ray, (I hope) But man coming back is going to be a bear...

Now can I bribe anyone else to go?? :eyebrow:

I was the first to sign up, so there are 21 open spots if anyone wants to squeeze on. Just call Ocean Adventures in Venice.

Only word of warning on the Sundiver and overnights.....there are [counting......] 7 double bunks, 2 single bunks, and one sort of bow orgy bunk...... I guess 3 people could get up in there, maybe 4. That makes 20 spaces to sleep, 18 of which require your buddy skills to be a little more advanced ;)

Do I have my count right? If so, there are going to be two groggy people that morning

Might want to get there early to score a single if you're unattached

That's not very nice of them, especially since the boat leaves at MIDNIGHT!!...I never ventured downstairs when I was on it a few weeks ago. I guess I will get there early, it's not like I'll have anyplace to go in LA that late at night anyway. Let's hope there isn't a full load, because that would totally suck. Although I guess you could sleep in the galley if you really needed too. Or that Bow orgy bunk could get really interesting!!! :rofl3:

Or get there late if you're looking/available :D

But yes, definitely check the bunk situation to make sure you can get one, or I would not be so keen!

Edit: I think chris has the bunk situation approximately right. Doubling up is just a fact on a lot of boats, but not getting a bunk would definitely suck for a long trip like that.

Clemente is definitely best done as a 2-dayer with Farnsworth on the way home!

Well now we know what Nick does!

yup -- I stock up on plenty of baked beans/chili the night before so no one wants to sleep next to me :)

of course, then if (say) a hot chick were available I'd have metaphorically shot myself in the old foot!

Oh lord, I would hate to be the one to unzip your drysuit!!! :help:

But I guess you don't have to worry about putting much air in your drysuit either!!

I was out at San Clemente last Saturday on the Great Escape. We ended up hitting Swiss Cheese, 5 Fathoms & Booster Rocket Reef on the backside. All three of these spots are amazing as I have found with almost all the spots at San Clemente. I LOVE THIS ISLAND! It is definitley my favorite out of all the Channel Islands. The underwater topograhy is just amazing. All that being said......the viz was for crap. The first two spots were only about 10-12ft and about 5ft at Booster Rocket Reef which by the way is about the biggest Kelp Bed I have ever seen. Even with the bad viz I still enjoyed my dives. I believe water temps ran around 54 degrees. I am sure if you end up diving the frontside vis will be much better. I would say you should definitely go and experience San Clemente Island.
