A quick Yahoo search for Lt. Mike Rogan turns up 2 other rescues in Hawaiian waters, with the first one Nov. of '03.

Evidently he has been flying C-130's here for at least 3 years. It's likely that he has seen humpbacks from the air before. Currently the North Pacific Humpbacks are feeding in Alaska, but who is to say our NAVY's active sonar usage hasn't damaged the navigation ability of one or more of them. Or maybe it's similarly lost Humpbacks from the South Pacific, which would be in tropical waters this time of the year.

I want the Coasties on my side if I ever need their help. Maybe someone should surrender the bootie out of their mouth.
And I have a suggestion for you :mooner:
If he thinks he saw a humpie, he was wrong. On this I would bet money. Some other kind, as I stated before but not a humpback, no way, no how. BTW, if you ever do need the coasties out of Maui, you will change your opinion of them in a hurry.

Oooooooouch!!!!!!! :11:

Not so much the coasties themselves, just there command policies.... Call em for help, go ahead, see what happens, or dosn't happen.
