A similar task was undertaken at Alexander springs... by the Army Corps of Engineers... we all know how that ended.

Why is this a bad thing?

AH YES, the Army Corp of Engineers !!!!!.....Everglades draining/straightening/flood control, New Orleans dykes/dams and several other 'make-work' projects at their best !!!!!!.....Tax payer dollars at work !!....Just warms your heart :-( !!!!!

Mississippi River Gulf Outlet worked real great for New Orleans during Katrina. Another fine ACE project.

can you explain how this is going to make the beach better?.....i thought sand was transient... will we have to swim to the ledge for the reef now?

Especially in that area south of the pier, the reef is so close and healthy. Let's hope there are no hurricanes that hit the area for a really long time.

I dived Datura the date that photo was taken. The groves in the sand from the heavy equipment made for a tough walk. The track was at least 18" deep and about a foot wide.. times two tracks. We were coming out of the water when one of the group was a little leg weary. He was a bit smaller than us, and that step down caused him to lose his balance. A guy on the 4 wheeler was coming our way telling us to hurry as the truck was coming, we were doing the best we could, the fastest we could, and was having trouble lifting him up enough to get his balance again. Finally another person saw our predicament and assisted.

Does this affect the diving right now, such as vis? I was planning on checking out LBTS for the first time during the first week of March.
