S95 RAW not supported yet ~ work around

Adobe doesn't yet support the S95 RAW files but a work around is to use the supplied Canon software to open the images and then save them to TIFF.

Unfortunately that also bloats them to 50-70 meg.

Another work around until Adobe releases a new version of ARC that supports new models is to use an exif editor such as EXIF TOOLs to edit the metadata of the file.

Simply changing the metadata tag : Canon Model ID = PowerShot S90 allows the file to be read by Photoshop and Lightroom.

You can even leave the metadata tag : Camera model name = Canon PowerShot S95 and your camera will be correctly identified as a Canon S95 in the Metadata panel of Lightroom.

Does this work:

Using an exif editor ( such as ExifTools) you can change the Canon Model ID to Powershot S90 and then ACR will read your RAW file.

Yes, that works and IMO is better than converting to TIFF.

I'm using ACR 6.2 which is the latest update for Lightroom 3.2 and Photoshop CS5
