Thats a lot of weight Wijbradus!

"I use a steel backplate. With a 3mm full wetsuit, I still strap on 10 or 12 pounds of lead in salt water."

For clarification, do you mind my asking, is that just a ~6 lb. backplate, or is it ~6 lbs. + a weighted STA (and how much weight is in the STA if your rig uses one)?

I use a SS backplate and no additional weight when diving in a full body 3mm suit and Al80, and I'm about a pound heavy.

Another 10 pounds is a heck of a lot..

Not for the fat & floaty people.

Some days when I use just ten pounds, I have issues when I'm down to 1000 pounds.

If I can stay somewhere for a week, and dive daily, I'm able to drop some weight. But right now I'm just a vacation diver, and I'm not able to at the moment. Going to Roatan this summer. I'm hoping that when it's all done, I'll be able to drop a bit more weight.

Unfortunately, when you aren't diving for a few months at a time, it's hard to keep the lead off when you go back. I'd say it's darn near impossible.
