Rust on Trilobite body

    re cutting a penny with shears; the problem isn't so much the sharpness of the blades (cutting a penny in half), but the looseness of the rust-out rivet that holds the blades together. The test is will they cut line or will the intact line just slide between the blades.

    The proper rinsing (and potentially coating as someone suggested) sounds like the only thing you can do.

    I love trilobites (have 2) and I do not give them any special care (rinsing) so I need to replace the blade about once a year - more of a precaution than replacing of a blunt part.

    I use them to cut stuff about every other week or so (anything from fishing line to a rope that can barely fit) and never had a problem. I always carry two, just in case - one on the wrist (computer band), one in the pouch.

    Fun fact: Stainless steel is called 'nerez', which means 'no rust' in my language (Czech) o_O

    Different cutter not sure if it fits the same mounts/cases.
