Rubber or braided hose?

I am using Miflex branded hoses. Rubber is better but then I have to add swivels for better, more comfortable routing to my mouth. Too many question marks regarding even Miflex hoses and inner core reactions to compressed air contaminants

I think the bigger issue with braid is they show no sign of issue from apparence. They can look perfectly spanking new outside but their core can severely degraded. I have 2 braided failed like this. With rubber, you do have a good idea of the hose condition from outside. So no more braided for me

@jfe reason why is because the inner material is what has caused the crumbling and clogged regulators that DAN and others have warned about

@eelnoraa unfortunately you have to ask and trust the suppliers.... Piranha has known good hoses, as does Oxycheq. I'm sure others do as well but I haven't gone that far into looking since I don't need hoses that often. My last order was from Piranha

On my recent LC trip I turned on the tank and noticed all these little bubbles forming on my primary hose.....Yep, Rubber for rme

I use mainly braided but am slowly returning to rubber due to issues reported. There's a couple of threads on this subject.

1. Rubber because it is a lot cheaper.
2. Weight is NOT an issue.

I will ask DGX on my next purchase for hoses.
Polyether-TPU is the one that I need.
I am glad I had never washed the inside of any scuba hoses.

I get mine (braided MIFLEX) from Piranha only. That'd be a hell of a thing though, going to take a breath from your regulator and get nothing but a mouthful of inner core chips. . .

The size of orifice on the second stage seat will prevent the chunks from getting to your mouth but the idea of a hose clogging up and blocking my air keeps me using rubber hoses.

After reading DANs article my take is not so much if the hose is Rubber or Braided, but the Hoses that are made or lined with Polyester-TPU showed signs of decay where as the hoses with Polyether-TPU did not. DAN recommends to buy your hoses from well known manufacturers that clearly indicates the type of liner material used. I have not been able to find any information on the web from any of the major manufacturers if they use Polyether-TPU or Polyester-TPU lining. Has anyone been able to find any information on this?
