I personally went through the YMCA in the late 1970s -- but several of my German friends went through NASDS at about the same time, which is alive and well, auf Deutschland, where you can still start training at twelve -- eh, 12 Jahre . . .

Just curious if there is any of us left
Certified in West Covina CA in 1972 at a dive shop called Scubatech. I was 15 years old, later got a Senior Diver certification. Did a lot of dives at Malibu, Catalina Island and San Clemente Island

I was NASDA certified in 1975, Coos Bay, Oregon. We had a lot of fun diving in the Cribbs, around the light house, and trips down to Port Orford. I still have my dive card, and open water cert card, and dive log book. Mostly dive warm waters now. Diana Cook Weaver

Was NASDS certified mid to late 70’s out of Cap’n Frogs Medford Ore. Had great instructors, Jim Myers and Barry Enoch (Plank Owner Seal Team One), great guys. Barry had passed years back, but will always remember his good nature and his experiences in Nam. Barry was a Captain for Fire District Three, based in Central Point when being instructed. Ice diving, night diving off Harris Beach Ore., Puget Sound, Catalina and San Clemente islands these experiences will always remain with me. Jim, if you’re still around God Bless you for the memories.
