Has anyone ever dove at Rocky Gap State Park? They say there is an underwater course set up, If so is there a map or course outline. I plan on diving the lake sometime this June.

I go there a lot. Not because it's a great dive, but just because it's only 10mins away. I don't know who told you there was an underwater course, cause in less they put it in over the winter, there isn't one.

It's not a bad dive if you like diving cold dark lakes. When you go, they like you to stat above the lodge and please fly your flag. For the easiest entry, just drive straight past the lodge entrance and after a couple hundred yards or so, you'll see a sign for the Aviary on the right. Take that right, and go just past the Aviary and then bare to the left down a dirt road that takes you to the waters edge.

I haven't been yet this year, but we are planning a dive this week out there. I'll try to remember to post the temps for ya. It's usually mid 60s at the surface, and upper 40s at 50' this time of year.

Thanks for the info. I'm use to dark cold places I usaully dive lake and quarries most of the time. I'm about 40 minutes away from Rocky Gap so it seems like a great place to get wet.

Here is a link (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/columns/roadtrip/maps/trip07202003.pdf) that appeared several years ago in the Wahington Post.

There was an underwater nature trail setup (8 to 10) years ago. We've run several day trips to the park, but nothing recently. From what we've heard, interest in diving the lake did not meet expectations. So keeping the trail up may have fallen by the wayside.
