Everyone,

I read that a few years ago, alot of people had "intestinal" problems when visiting Roatan. Most of these issues seemed to center around Cocoview Resort. I heard that this might have been resolved but just wanted to check with you folks that have cvisited Roatan in the past year or two and see if anyone experienced any problems.

Also, is Sept/Oct a good time to visit Roatan ??? Thanks for your help and advice.

Bob

I think the incident you are describing revolved around some local cheese or dairy products. I think it was widespread across the Island but I think CCV was the resort that finally figured out the problem(And I think the resort most attributed to the illness in Undercurrents). This occurred before I was a diver, so, this is only my recollection of posts I've read/seen -- anyway, its second hand (or 3rd hand + and I'm getting older so my memory isn't as good as it used to be) information. Perhaps someone else can shed more light on this.

First hand, I'll be going to CCV for my fourth time in the last four years the end of April, and, I've never experienced any illness (or witnessed it either). Also, I've never been there in Sep/Oct so I can't comment on that -- I'll just bet its hot and muggy.

I think the incident you are describing revolved around some local cheese or dairy products. (brought in from mainland honduras, purchased from a Government approved dairy factory) I think it was widespread across the Island but I think CCV was the resort that finally figured out the problem (Also correct) (And I think the resort most attributed to the illness in Undercurrents). (Curiously so.) Perhaps someone else can shed more light on this.

No... you hit all the relevant points of historical reality vs. internet fable.

Here's how to find out, click on Dockside Dive Center Log and then page backwards to look at last years weather for Oct/Nov. Will it be the same? Who knows?

Know this- The Bay Islands can suffer the tail rains of Huricanes that track just North... or not.

Hey~ you were wet, anyway :eyebrow:

There last May, no problems whatsoever with the food, unless it being too good is a problem :D
will be back in July - talk about hot and muggy.......
