Are you talking about the Ft. Getty in RI? If so do you have any info on diving around Dutch Island?
Yes -- Ft. Getty in Jamestown. Sorry but I have nothing on Dutch. Do a search here. I highly recommend this campground as a way to be close to civilization but not in the heart of it as some campgrounds are. There is a cleaning station at the end of the dock and I bet this would be a great place for a shallow night dive to look at the critters coming in to feed. There is a swim beach before the campground proper that has a lot of ledge formations and may be a fun, shallow, high tide dive. Beavertail is very close and it's not too far to Newport dive sites. Another Jamestown dive site [I was told about] for a night dive is the beach/cove near the off/on ramp to the bridge/highway. I don't know much about this area [Jamestown] really -- maybe some locals will jump in with suggestions.

Ft Getty is open to the public. There is a fee to enter. There is easy access to launch a kayak and it's a short 1/2 mile paddle to Dutch Island. The east side northern end of Duych island has a drop off to about 50fsw with a rocky wall that ends on a sandy bottom. The current running thru there can be very strong and slack is the best time to dive. The southern end still east side is more sloping to the bottom. There is also a barge wreck off the southern tip of the island about 1/2 mile to the south it is marked by buoys and is a good dive if you hit the vis right.

I was also looking at the Trajan wreck off Goat Island as a possible dive site. It is 1/4 mile west of the island. Is there somewhere on Goat Island I can park and launch a kayak from?
