I second that idea! But it sounds like @1bubbleoff already purchased the parts and you might damage a head oring in the process as the head is hot. (Done that!)

Nothing like having your parts in hand. Putting those hard durometer orings on the piston and breaking one!!!! I said Oh S**T (don't know if we can swear here! LOL)

OH that reminds me! With the lack of our guru @iain/hsm I will ramble on.
That reverse taper on the storage tube has an IMPORTANT purpose! (I believe) Use it to install the afore mentioned stiff orings onto the piston. When you get them on the taper then slide the piston through the tube to the needed slot you can drop it off the taper and right into the slot!

I did not have one for the 4VX and had to stretch them on with an oring tool. I broke several!!!

When ordering, purchase several extra. $3.10 is cheap insurance. I'm sure that you know this but you will go through more third stage rings than the first and second. In each order, I would order extra 3rd stage rings, pressure breaker and orings and reuse the rider. Cheaper rebuild. No minimum order and combined shipping!

O rings and 1st stage gasket to rebuild all 3 heads is $36

I thought about the tool and doing that... so would you load all 4 o rings and drop one at a time, or load one, shove the piston through and drop it in... rinse and repeat?

YES well worth the $36!

As I mentioned, I never had one for the RIX 4VX but we did have them to rebuild regulators and they work GREAT!

Only saying that without our guru @iain/hsm . I would do them 1 at a time as I believe that the orings are 90 durometer! I broke several and it is a pain in the but if you break one. If you stack 4 you might stretch to tooooo much!

My plan is to do exactly that...use the taper tube to load one o ring at a time onto the 3rd stage piston, than rings, and last breakers before loading the taper tube for re-installation into the cylinder bore.

I may use a little Christo-lube on the o rings just to ease the installation. I really don't want to destroy new o rings.

Ok.. so @1bubbleoff was nice enough to send me these yesterday. Said took about an hr to install all the o rings and reassemble. He had cleaned everything up (ultrasonic, brushes, etc.) over the last few days while waiting for parts. Just wanted to share his photos... yes he said I could post.
