For explanation I didn't think you had the correct manual for what you described and why I posted the drawing of the original Suction Valve Assy A2536 Dated 9th January 1975 for the Smit Tak Salvage pump serial Number 4480 Build 16th July 1975

Now your serial number 4145 is by definition some 335 builds earlier than the Smit job I referenced so ball park this compressor of yours to be around a 1970-1971 to around 1973. Now add in to this the move of Rix from Emeryville to Sparks Reno and Benicia CA and I don't think any of us will carry spares for a 50 year old compressor.

Now the valve you have in your photo is unfortunately a metal to metal seat body modified for polymer seat so this clearly post dates both your build and mine hence I would suggest that a old metal to metal body and a lapped metal seat may be the most pragmatic and cheaper option than trying to re machine the soft seat. Plan 2 would be machine out the entire soft seat and fit a new seat then the option of going back to the ground and lapped metal seat or your own modification of plastic seat is still on the table.

Where you get the body from is the question hence maybe consider to machine the whole thing up?

@iain/hsm

All of your help is extremely helpful and appreciated, thank you.

We have 2 heads with plastic seats and one with the metal on metal. I think I will try both solutions and hopefully one will work out for us. I'll keep posting pics as we progress and keep my fingers crossed.

Cheers man, you're rad.

EDIT: we are literally 45 minutes drive to Benecia...maybe we should just drive up there and beg for mercy :wink:
