Would puting a RiteSource Integrated inflator/regulator on my BP/W be DIR. I have the 7 ft hose but could the Integrated inflator be my primary in an OOA emergency and give the 7 ft to the OOA diver ?

Hi Steve. Welcome to scubaboardand diving. DIR is a great methodology. I am constantly working to be a DIR diver. I've taken the GUE DIR-f course (fundementals of DIR diving) and plan on going further. But as TSandM says "DIR-f is a gateway drug."Scuba St3ve:NO im not trolling.
Im new to diving and was told by a friend about Diving DIR and he made it sound like In DIR you should be as stremline as possible so i thought that the dive-rite would make you more stremline by losing a hose and a octo.

Absolutely correct - I used Scubapro Air IIs (2nd and 3rd gen) in my pre-DIR days, and they breath terrible. Plus there are numerous other problems with an integrated octo/inflator:cerich:I see where you are thinking, the downsides are that the secondary is not as easy to use as a bungee secondary on the neck and the reliability of inflator/octo combos have in the past proven to be less reliable than a standard octo.
