I rinse after every day of diving in saltwater or poolwater. I thouroughly clean the inside of the bc at least every two days and before I put the gear away for two or more days...

I very seldom dive in Fresh water but I always washed my gear using the above routine regardless of location.

I don't dive freshwater any more (what would a marine biologist be doing in it anyway?). My dives are 100% in salt water. I dive frequently and do not generally rinse my gear during summer, but do so in winter when I may go 3-5 days without diving again. I recently had my first stage overhauled and was pleasantly surprised at how clean it was (last service about three years ago). Of course my older wetsuits rot off my body within years.

Fortunately I rinse and then soak over-night all my gear after every day of diving. We live inland about 3 hours from the coast and during the long drive back ( always dog tired ) and I'm mentally telling myself maybe this time I'll clean up my equipment tomorrow but no, I drag everything out and go through my crazy ritual once again. Usually between 10 and 11 pm.

I have to say all the nonsense appears to have paid off as my oldest gear is over 6 years old and after 300+ dives looks like it did that first dive. Only rinse and soak the gear you value after every dive day if you can. Your efforts will be rewarded.

Depends, if I dive in fresh water I generally don't rinse my gear except if there is mud or sand but if I dive in salt water every thing gets soaked and rinsed ASAP post-dive.

Agree. I dive Minnesota and only freshwater, if I dive the next day I usually just get the dirt off and thats about it. If I were diving saltwater, that would be a different story!

I just got in an our ago. Going out again in 24. My gear is soaking in the rinse tank for about another 4 hours.
