Doc Harry: But thats more for the good of the waterways than your gear though. Also, southern hemisphere dont really apply too much to myself given Im pretty much as far from it as you can get

Depends, if I dive in fresh water I generally don't rinse my gear except if there is mud or sand but if I dive in salt water every thing gets soaked and rinsed ASAP post-dive.
