RI dive season 2025

After the storm Thursday evening we decided to pass on Friday. We were in the FW parking lot Saturday morning by 10:15. I was surprised by the lack of cars. The lot was probably less than half full, and less than half of those were for divers. I think there may have been 1 class consisting of 2 divers and an instructor, but they may have just been divers.

Went out the west wall where we saw several starfish, a lone spider crab and a large for FW flounder. All-in-all a good shake out dive. I was reminded of how nice it is not having to deal with the flag during the “off season” dives.

51 minutes, max depth of 28 fsw, vis from 5-12’, 61 degrees at depth. Quite the thermocline with 65 degrees at 17’ and above.

No diving on Sunday, yard work day.

Yes, seems a bit colder than usual. Great way to test a new wetsuit, though. My new Pinnacle did pretty well.

Oops, i was looking at July!
i have redone my calendar. As it happens i am going to Ft Wetherhill tomorrow morning, hopefully before all the crowd shows up!

I am planning to go this Sunday August 3, to Ft Wetherhill for scuba if anyone looking for a dive buddy. I can get there by 8am or earlier.
If no buddy I’ll dive shallow or snorkel depending on conditions.
