Sorry, I just feel for you on that horrible 686. Yuck.

I agree that the cost is high from here, I looked around some more at other options. I actually live equal distance(time wise) between DTW and ORD, MDW is an option too but the parking around there stinks(when the price of the ticket is right Ill do it). I see that leaving either DTW or ORD I can go non-stop into CUN and the prices go way down. Maybe I need to sell the idea of going through CUN so that we can hit Coz for 5 or 6 days and then transfer up to cancun for one or two days to go out to Tulum. I could probably spend the same money, get an extra day of vacation and see the ruins( which is high on my wife's to-do list). That actually seems like the best approach!

I am checking out that Ypata.com site Mike thanks! I like the +-3 days thing they have. I used to use that a lot on travelocity but its gone now?? They also have some good info on hotel room rates, Hotel Cozumel come up there at a very attractive price.

Cheers
Jerry

Hey Jer,

I am working on a Tulum / Coba ruins trip for a day trip out of Coz in July for the fam. We have ruins seekers on this trip. My plan is to hire a van for the day. about 14 buck each way on the ferry to Playa and then have the van for the day. I am told the ruins can easily be done that way. And Playa is about 50 minutes closer to Tulum than Cancun, so including the ferry, travel time would be about the same. Just a thought. I haven't started working over my van guy for a price and I think I might know a taxi guy / paramedic in Playa that I am going to check with.

So I just looked a a map of cancun and vicinity, going to Playa makes a lot more sense than up to cancun and back down to tulum. Thanks for that tip. I can touch bases with you for a number if I need a van guy!

Thanks
Jerry

We don't necessarily need steel tanks, was just saying his bottom time is usually a bit less with 80 aluminum's then at home with his 120's.

I'd love to do more then just a two tank in the morning, at least something in the afternoon. Not looking for fancy, we are not party people, and trying to stay as low budget as we can without staying in a crap hole.

One man's crap hole is another man's paradise. It's all relative.

Have hubby consider an AL100 as a compromise. I believe all the shops that get their tanks from Meridiano or wherever they fill the 80s can get 100s on request. It may cost a little more but should be worth it if it extends his dives.

Isnt Reef Club / Wyndam / Secrets / Sabor due for another name change?
Now the hotel is split Sabor is now part of Secrets and the other half is called Sunscape. Sunscape has smaller hotel rooms, older small condos, and allows kids, also less expensive.

Sabor was an excellent value for us. Sandalls on the other hand is insanely expensive, even more so that Secrets.

So Sabor is Secrets but Suncape isn't and it was all Wyndam after it was Reef Club? And who is on first?

I think we really need break another bit off and make a Dreams. What are they down to, like 10-15 rooms per name?

Sabor is a Sunscape resort. Aura is a Secrets resort. They are both AMResorts properties (as is Dreams. There is also the ridiculously named Zoetry, which Cozumel lacks.)

So Sabor is not Secrets.
