Sabor is a Sunscape resort. Aura is a Secrets resort. They are both AMResorts properties (as is Dreams. There is also the ridiculously named Zoetry, which Cozumel lacks.)

So Sabor is not Secrets.

So Sabor is by Secrets, but its Sunscape which is by Aura which is Secrets and they are AMresorts which also Dreams though that isn't by Secrets, Sabor, Aura or Sunscape which all used to be Wyndam after it was Reef Club, none of which were Zoertry. Got it.

Now which one had the Legionaires?

The former Sabor section of the Wyndham Reef Club, the part that has the water slides is now part of Secrets formally Aura. Also the Reef club Wyndham hotel rooms that had building # in the teens around the swim up bar pool have been totally reworked and transferred to Secrets, They even built a wall to separate the two resorts. They now call that area Secrets Preferred. They also walled off the former Buffet restaurant and it is now part of Secrets. The area behind the former Aura has now a mini mall connecting the old Aura and old Sabor and that is how they combined the two.

So Sabor is Secrets.

The old Reef Club, Wyndham, (not the Sabor section) is now Sunscape and the timeshare section which is the Regency Club is also part of Sunscape. The old Reef Club had 298 rooms including the 98 timeshare Regency area. While Wyndham ran the place the Sabor section was built adding 48 more rooms. The current Sunscape / Regency section is now 98 timeshare and 96 hotel rooms. (194)

So Sabor is Secrets.

Okay, old Sabor is Secrets. But AMR still calls the Sunscape the "Sunscape Sabor" and that is not part of Secrets.

(I was there when they were changing the buffet and walling everything off. That's part of the reason we decided not to stay there again. It's getting pretty bare what is left.)

Yes it is getting hard to get a table to eat.
I think Sunscape is using the Sabor name because that was the more upscale part of the hotel when Wyndham ran it and they are looking for repeat people. And The Sabor name was not associated with the Legionnaires disease problem of several years ago. The embezzlement arrest of the 2 top managers and the Legionnaires disease was the down fall of Wyndham.
BTW the land that all the resorts sit on as well as the Residents to the south is owned by A local family. Nadal the Tennis Player owns the rights to operate the hotels and he has AM Resorts run and Market them. Those locals know a good thing, collect royalties with no expense.

Not looking for fancy, we are not party people, and trying to stay as low budget as we can without staying in a crap hole.

If you don't care about Ocean front accomodations, think about renting a small house. Search for Mi Casa Cozumel Vacation Home Rentals. For about $300 a week, you can rent a whole house, 2 Bedrooms, Living room, Dining Room, Full Kitchen, outdoor patio. For about $400 for a week, you can get a home with a pool. And having the full kitchen will allow you to stock up on groceries and beer (or Margarita Mix and Tequila) at the Mega or Chedraui and take care of some of your own meals. You may be a mile or so away from the waterfront, so unless you rent a car, there will be a lot of walking, or taxis, but maybe you don't mind that.

+1 Aldora
- very professional and accommodating. I would email them your diving profiles and accommodation desires and asking them for recommendations. besides steel 100s, they have higher capacity and multiple boats, so you dive your experience/needs. SB recommended them to me when my teenage children were just certified more than ten years ago. Their attention to safety and helping my kids grow as divers was outstanding. We go back every year and now span the quick get wet dives to the soar like mad in the current through the coral heads dives. Many times it is just us. Always we are joined with similar skilled divers [max 6 to a boat]. I never felt we left any bottom time unused or dove a dive we didn't want.

Keep in mind that for geezer gas users, nitrox from Meridiano only comes in 80's. 100's are air-only.

I own AL 100's that are nitroox dedicated cylinders :) Due to my own demand for them, I very rarely rent them to other shops - and then it's only a select few that I rent them to if I don't have any divers needing them.

Nice - 100cf nitrox cylinders!

But for most shops 100cf and nitrox are mutually exclusive, right?

What do you mean? Aldora has 120 cu ft nitrox tanks. I would not be surprised if they have 100 cu ft nitrox tanks.
