Thanks again for reply. Does anyone make/sell Scout 3C style bodies. Again, the goal being an economical retrofit path of existing stock SL4 light.

Halycon? :rofl3:
Or
Gulftex for the Torpedo with module installed
gulftex
Or
Heser also with LED already
Heser Tauchtechnik
Or
Light Monkey also with LED already (2 sizes from various dealers listed here)

There are virtually no usable parts in an SL4 light, just the bezel and the module. Just put those 2 peices into your spares bin and buy new backup lights with the proper body - which being delrin is inherently expensive. Or keep the SL4 intact for the garage and get new backup dive lights.

Thanks. Sorry, I guess the term "Scout" must suggest some particular manufacturer. :D

I guess what I'm really asking - is it possible to purchase a 3C, twist-on, back-up style body ONLY in order to retrofit an exisitng SL4 ?

Sorry didn't see this. I guess I would have thought the bezel and module were the important parts of the light and the body ... well just an inexpensive enclosure for the batteries. Thanks again, for the insight.

Scout and mini-scout are Halycon specific models. I don't know of anyone selling just new bodies but someone with a lathe could probably make you some. I question whether it would be cost effective. Or you can often find used halogen outfitted bodies on places like TDS and retrofit LEDs into them.

A personal note about twist on lights vs those with switches/buttons. I had my primary die and when I went to my Intova backup I was unable to locate the switch by feel with my drygloves on. After fumbling with it making several unsuccessful attempts to find the switch I went to my other backup which was the Dorcy. The twist on bezel made it quite easy to turn it on without issue.

I have 2 in miniscouts and 1 in a 3cell scout. I'm not sure your problem but if you post a picture maybe we can help.

Sounds like the problem was not reversing the polarity of the batteries. It all screwed together fine, just didn't light up. I will reverse and tape. Thanks.

Do the off the self LED scouts have the batteries reversed?

This has been an interesting thread, lots of good information for light hackers.

I don't know if the Scouts come with batteries or not. Nor if the Halcyon module is wired the same way or not.

My LED Photon torpedo came with batteries and they were installed correctly with the positive end going into the tube. The torpedo uses the UK module though.
