A colleugue of mine came back from Sipadan, and toldme that a diver ( apparently of Russian Origin ) drowned / died during a dive.

Does anyone know how / why ?. I am not morbid, but do like to understand how accidents happen witha view of learning what to be more carefull.

From what I heard, he was diving on twins, was doing up 70 meters depth on air ( yes, I know what you are thinking )and up to 30mins deco . Would like to verify more

Just knowing a diver died at Sipadan, with no amplifying information, my bet would be he went the way of the turtles.
With the little bit of information you did provide, it could well have been a fatal mistake in gas management. Unless he exceeded 70M by a pretty good bit I wouldn't bet on an oxygen hit.
I look forward to a full report.

not the cave. Apparently he floated up after 2 hours ( lucky he was positive, otherwise they would never of found him )

the article i read about it stated that he went "too deep". whatever that means. obviously if he had stayed at the surface he would still be alive.
