Also, on AL100's - the tank is much wider than an AL80, so the valve is set back a bit further back on the tank, and the DIN - Yoke adaptor won't hit you in the head.

I have had some head bumping, if I look up, when using an AL80 with my yoke adaptor.

All our stuff is DIN.

We travel with adapters. Some larger shore dive ops have DIN cylinders, we'll ask for those, if not use the adapters.

For Aggressor trips we take oxygen-cleaned DIN/K convertable valves. Every boat has drained cylinders for us and put them on. When we take our regs off the tank in between dives, we put in the plug so they can fill it.

All the best, James

All my stuff is DIN except for my one pool rig. When I am going to travel I change my first stage back to yoke. I don't do it that often and I try to coordinate it with annual service. Just have to convert back when I return.

DMdoogie:
I've never had a problem with the adaptor poking my head, but here's a solution I've seen others use on Carribbean trips. Turn the tank backwards so the valve orifice is facing back, turn the reg upside down so the 2nd stage comes over the right shoulder. The only problem is that the tank valve is now on the "wrong" side, so it's a non-standard configuration.

Interesting idea. I'll have to try this one and see how it feels.
