I have an EE Balanced P-Valve. The hardest part was convinving myself that it is a good thing to put a hole in a new suit. Once you get one, you will love it

Any seroius drysuit tech diver considers a pee valve or diapers required equipment. Pee valves are not for rec divers, though it would be nice feature to have. If you want to spent your 1hr 45 min + dive with your legs crossed and your back teeth floating go right ahead.

those of us who know, will use a pee valve. My guess it that the female tech divers are using diapers.

SpyderTek,

I will be blunt about this. We don't hold it; we use depends. I do have instructions to try a balanced p valve (along with some other equipment), but I haven't tried it yet. So for now, I'm stuck with depends.:( The secret is out.

What about the ladies? They don't have this option. And if the ladies can hold it what are we less 'civilized' than the ladies?

I've worked as a nurses aide so I am familure with the "external male" cath vs the Internal ones. The ones I saw for sale on E-bay were definately internal caths.

As for the holes in the suit your arms, legs, head are coming out of; the suit was designed with those holes. Arn't we talking about poking your own brand spanking new hole? All the dry suits I've seen so far do not come with a P-valve hole already in them. Will a shop do this for you so it is a "professional" drilling?

Also, Isnt it embaressing walking from your suit up site to the water with what is essentially your urin stick flopping around for all to see?

shivering with the cooties,

My goodness...
The ladies - and quite a few men, by the way, use diapers. Those men who do express the same concerns about putting an extra hole in the dry suit.
It is no big deal to tuck the hose attached to the end of the condom catheter inside your bathing suit or long johns or whatever you're wearing between the bathhouse and the place you don your suit.
For the ladies - I have just recently seen (withinthe last month or so) a female external catheter that's nearly ready to hit the market. I'm not quite sure how it'll work, but if it does, it'll make life in a drysuit a bit more bearable.

Pokin' holes in the drysuit is no big deal man....
I certainly wouldn't pay someone to do it!!!
Just take the appropriate size punch...
Put it where you want the hole...
With a piece of wood or something on the inside...
(no sense having the punch go through the back side of the leg too)
Give the punch a whack with a hammer....
Install the P valve with Aquaseal and tighten down the locking ring nut....
Wait a couple of hours if you mixed Cotol with the Aquaseal...
Wait a overnight if you didn't....
Put on an external cath...
Drink a ton....
Go diving and pee.

For the girls....
O2 mask or pocket mask with fix~a~dent....
But be sure to wear the depends too....
Sorry.... it just doesn't work that great.

Unfortunately, it's not something from the Victoria's Secret catalog. It's something more like from the retirement home.

For those few divers who are looking for an alternative, PM me and I will give you the information.

Uncle Pug - Fix~o~dent is only for gums -- let's not go down that road:D

lets get back to the best Pee Valve.

I am using a soggy old diaper and have ordered a OMS pee valve

I would like to know of any other options out there, or here from people using the valve.

hole in my drysuit. my last dry suit had several hole in it I just kept pluggin them with bubble gum.

on a seroiuse note. holding your pee can lead to DCS. it the fact that your constricting your muscles durring the descent. let it flow baby.

I have been pretty good about holding it because i hate the soggy diaper thing. I will hold it until i need to use cancious thoughts to do so. but when you strat getting to 2 hr dives forget it.

so give me the pros and cons of different pee valves, I like Rick Murchison idea how does that work.

Is the OMS balanced

I have had critters were they shouldn't be and I am not in favour of that experience again
Think spinny sea urchan and internal catheters ourch!!

I have a unbalanced pee valve.

Nothings gonna craw up it because i have a thumb screw i open to pee and close when im done.

1. advantage to the pee valve over diapers:

SMELL. I havent used a diaper but a used diaper must be a nasty smelling peice of equipment once used. # 1 or #2 in it. :) Pee valves are alot cleaner choice.

2. Disadvantage of a pee valve over a diaper:

You cant poop thru a pee valve.

if your pooping in there pls dont post about it!!!!!!!

Andy

installing a pee vavle is simple, dont let that deter you.
