I also have a plastic ruler that I hold against the case to measure as it's going in.

Is the ruler anything special?

I’ll just throw this out there for the OP. The Apeks and Aqualung you listed would be included in the free part’s program. If you start skipping every other year, you may find yourself paying for the parts on the rebuild years. Your regs, that’s around $100 for 1st, 2nd and octo parts per reg. Up to the shop how they handle it. Some are more strict than others I’ve heard. I personally do my own anyway, but if I were to by a new reg, I might be tempted to do the inspection year to offset the parts cost. Just food for thought.

It has my son's picture on it from his graduation from USAF basic training. So it's very special.

Good info for anyone reading the thread, but I did not buy these regulators new from a North American distributor, so free parts program does not apply to them.
