I agree with tom winters, fairbanksdiver, and awap. I'd rather service my own regs and have myself to blame if something goes wrong then trust somoene I don't know. I mean for some of the prices these LDS's are charging you could buy a new reg online. Also if your diving in a manor where a regulator failure of any kind is life threatening I would maybe rethink your diving practices. If you can't easily do an ESA ya know it might be good a good idea to have a backup air supply (cough cough pony/doubles) in addition to your buddy. So much for it being some magical LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPEMENT. Now whose the moron.

Bought my regs at Scubatoys. Factory warranty including free parts for life and $39.95 to rebuild all three, 1st, 2nd and octo, not to mention a smokin deal upfront.

Tom Winters:
Oh man, if you people knew who was fixing your regulators - your precious LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT, you'd quit diving in some cases. Yup - there's lot of great qualified techs out there - and you'll pay accordingly.
Then there's the rest of the pack. Reg service is not rocket science, and guess what - there aren't a lot of NASA space engineers repairing regs. You get people that ran the fryer at McDOnald's before they became a divemaster though.
I have had some supposedly qualified techs work on my gear, but then I had problems with it. I take responsibility for my actions, so I fix my own gear now. It's not hard - after the first time, you'll wonder what all the shop mystery is.
Parts are another story. I only buy stuff that I can get parts for. So feel free to pay away and trust your life to a stranger in most cases.
Not me though. Thanks...

That's why I send my regulators to a place I trust. Actually Tom, it's not far from you.

I don't fix my own autos anymore, except for a few very minor things. I haven't time, space, and my skillls are not what they once were. Anybody need a pair of SU carbs tuned up, that's a different story.
