:confused:Regulator Help
I have an about 5 year old regulator that I leant out to a friend and he did not clean it, just put it back in bag and now it is caroded. The yoke will not open and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to clean it and remove the corrosion to make it useable again.

Soak it in a bucket of warm water.....after a couple of hours you'll be able to turn the yoke knob.
It's most likely still fine.
Is it a piston or diaphragm reg?

The reg probably will need a complete overhaul. Try soaking the reg in a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water to remove the corrosion. What reg make and model is it?

As said soaking in warm water with vinegar will most likely remove the corrosion. After that I would take it to your local shop and have it inspected. A descent shop should be able to do a few simple bench tests like checking the IP (intermediate pressure) and crack pressure. If they pass go use the reg and have a talk with your friend about the need to rinse gear after using it. Preferably over a few beers that they have bought.
