for a doubles regulator set do you have any recomendations? diaphragm or piston? balanced or unbalanced? i dive a lot of carribean but have a seperate singles reg. i do cold water diving. i was thinking either apexs tek 3, or ds4, what about scubapro mk17 g250v

All good solid choices...........

Which one can you get a deal on?

Which one is best supported by your LDS?

Which one gives the hose routing you prefer?

Which second stage feels better when you use it (size, knobs, mouth piece, exhaust tee, bubbles)?

Is there a difference in warranty that would impact total cost of ownership?

I'm partial to SP over Apeks.............due to a great tech at one of my LDS's.......

But that isn't a reflection on the performance of the reg.........

Just my thoughts.............M

I dive Poseidon Xsreams as my local cold water reg of choice............

So my opinions may not count.............:)

Most people I know have two SP MK25 or Apeks DS4.

I switched from Mk 25's to Mk 17's 3-4 years ago and have never regretted it. That will be especialyl true if you dive really cold water (colder than about 45 degrees). I also prefer the hose routing over the Mk 25 routing.

My opinion probably differs from some, but the Mk 25 doubles hose routing works but it is a long way from ideal and is generally messier than Mk 17 hose routing.

I am considering going to a MK17 setup from a MK20 primary. Do yo have a picture of what the routing looks like on your doubles rig?
