Hi,

I'm trying to make a directory of diving in Florida, and right now, I'm breaking Florida up into geographical areas. The trouble is I'm not sure what to call the areas.

I've got the "Florida Panhandle" & "Florida Keys" that was pretty easy.

What should I call the rest? Is there more than one area I should identify it by?

You can see what i have at: http://scubamazing.com/search/dirSearch.php/43

thank you,

I would try North Fla, North Fla West, North Fla East, Central Fla, Central Fla West etc.. Simple and easily deciphered.

hey thank you both for the suggestions, I've wanted to communicate my ideas to others best. I think this will work well.

i'd divide it into types of diving and region:

North Florida ledge and wreck diving

South Florida reef and wreck diving

Keys reef and wreck diving (including Dry Tortugas)

South Gulf Diving

North Gulf Diving

North and Central Florida Spring Diving (includes cavern and cave dives)

call it Orlando and all the other less cool places
:p

Andy,

thanks I hadn't tought about dividing the scuba regions into types of dives as well. That makes sense though.

wow, asking questions sure helps you think outside of whatever box one may be thinking in. Before I started this post, I pictured something like:
*The Keys
*The Panhandle
*Florida Main

:) Thanks for everyone's input.

hmmm... well.... North Florida goes down to Jupiter (and you're talking
ledges and darker water).

South Florida takes over at Jupiter, and you're talking reefs and clearer water.

so... Eastern Florida is really two regions in my mind

H2Andy:
South Florida takes over at Jupiter, and you're talking reefs and clearer water.

Sounds like you really mean SE Florida. South Florida includes both coasts and they are vastly different from each other, both wonderful in their own way.
