I was walking my dog the other morning with one of those retractable dog leashes. My leash uses a small diameter cord similar in size to the cord on my DSMB spool

And I was thinking about a roll of guy-line that I have packed away in my camping box.
I don't remember what type it is or where I got it, but it's like this....
and here's a different source, different color
it has a thread of reflective material running through it so it lights up like a laser beam when a flashlight hits it

Anyway, I was thinking that it would be great to re-spool the leash with that stuff
and then since I have been thinking recently about my DSMB and trying to dial-in my set up there, it came to mind that maybe it could be useful in that application too.

I don't remember ever seeing any mention of such an idea in my time poking around on Scubaboard....

So I'm curious...have any of you ever tried or considered something like it?

DGX sells it for their spools. A buddy uses it on his spools and reels and raves about it, but truthfully I've never even noticed it underwater, even when we're running lines. YMMV.

Hi @bradlw

I use this line with the reel I use with my flag. Extremely visible

EDIT: Ha, see @eightytwenty just beat me to it, will teach me to post photos

I use the same line on my spools and reels in the orange. Love it!
In Boynton Beach, when I am not diving solo, I often take divers who are newer or do not know the area. The highly visible line makes it much easier for them to ascend on my line when they need to go up before I am finished with the dive. We discuss this in detail before the dive, it works out very well.
